Some curiosities.
Birthplace of the Renaissance:
Florence is often referred to as the “birthplace of the Renaissance” due to its pivotal role in the flourishing of art, science, and culture during the 15th and 16th centuries. Great masters like Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Botticelli, and Galileo Galilei lived and worked in Florence, contributing to a period of immense creativity.
The Ponte Vecchio:
The Ponte Vecchio is one of the world’s most famous bridges and is unique because of the shops that line its sides. Traditionally, these shops were occupied by goldsmiths and jewelers. The bridge also survived World War II when much of Florence was destroyed, making it a symbol of resilience.
